Master the Classics. Lead the Future.

Frequently Asked Questions

General Inquiries

Is this a tutoring program?

No.

Tutoring programs will help students get desired test results, but they will not transform students to become better people.

The 1% Scholar, by contrast, is a classical education curriculum and mentorship program. We teach your Scholar how to think, not how to pass a class.

What is required of my Scholar?

Your Scholar must meet the Five Standards of Excellence:

1. Preparation: Complete readings before each session (30–60 minutes).
2. Presence: Attend the weekly 60-minute Zoom session with camera on.
3. Participation: Participate respectfully in Socratic dialogue.
4. Integrity: Submit original work for all five Pillars.
5. Punctuality: Submitting the Weekly Portfolio via email by Friday at 11:59 PM.

This is a commitment program, not a casual one.

How much time will this require?

Approximately 1 hour per day to complete the five Pillars (Preparation, Practice, Paper, Product, Person). Combined with pre-session reading, expect 7–8 hours weekly.

What if my Scholar misses a session?

Absences do not warrant refunds.

Your Scholar is responsible for submitting their Weekly Portfolio by Friday regardless of attendance. Missing the Socratic Seminar means missing live dialogue they cannot replicate independently.

How is my Scholar assessed?

Each Pillar is graded 0 or 1 per week. A perfect score is 5/5. The Mentor provides comprehensive feedback by the Friday of the following week. There are no letter grades—only mastery or incomplete.

Who is this program for?

This program is for ambitious high school students who want to do the hard things most teens avoid: deep reading, serious writing, and live debate that sharpens their thinking for Tier‑1 universities and great careers.

This program is not for “resume padders” who just want a fancy line without the work, “passive learners” who want to be lectured and told what to think, or remedial readers still struggling with basic literacy. We are an accelerant for driven students, not a safety net.

Enrollment & Refunds

What is your refund policy?

Full refund (minus the non-refundable processing fee) if requested 14+ days before the first session.

50% refund if requested within 7 days after the first session. No refunds once the second session commences.

If your Scholar is expelled for conduct violations, no refund is issued for remaining sessions.

Is there a trial or introductory period?

No.

The program begins immediately upon enrollment. However, Plan Alpha (1 month) gives you the opportunity to assess fit before committing to a quarter or year.

What if my Scholar is not ready for this level of rigor?

This program is not remedial; it is advanced.

The Five Standards of Excellence and the 3-Step Warning System ensure accountability. We recommend an honest assessment of your Scholar’s reading level and discipline before enrollment.

What’s the Enrollment process like?

We personally review every application to ensure that we are the right fit. If there is a fit, we’ll reach out to schedule a 30-minute discovery call with you and your Scholar. After mutual agreement, we’ll send you the enrollment contract and payment link.
